Sheriff Dave Roberson

Sheriff Dave Roberson
It is an honor to serve all citizens of Floyd County as your newly elected Sheriff.
As the Chief Constitutional Law Enforcement Officer of Floyd County, it is my duty to provide safety and security to all citizens. In doing so, I will be observant of the needs and concerns within the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office as well as our community, while also taking the Oath to support and defend our rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States of America.
My path to becoming Sheriff started in 1995 when I was hired as a jail officer. Over the past 26 years with our agency, I have had the opportunity to work my way up the ranks and gain vast knowledge that has prepared me well for the position of Sheriff of Floyd County.
With 162 employees dedicated to serving the people of this great county, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office is nationally accredited and always strives to serve in a professional and responsible manner. Our duties consist of providing safety and security in court services and the jail as well as serving arrest warrants and civil processes for the court system.
Your Sheriff’s Office is active in our community, taking initiative to be especially proactive with our youth and seniors. Current concerns such as violence, drugs, mental health, and now COVID-19 weigh heavily on all of our minds, and we must work hand in hand with the community and other agencies to address these issues for everyone’s safety.
When I was running for Sheriff, I expressed my intent to focus on four specific areas that I feel will make our community better and safer for all who live here. I remain committed to building relationships, reducing recidivism, recruiting and retaining professional staff, and ensuring that we are always fiscally responsible in regard to revenue and expenditures.
I want to sincerely thank you for this opportunity to serve the great citizens of our community.
-Your Sheriff Dave Roberson
