Detention Division

The Floyd County Jail is the largest building owned by the Floyd County Government. It is 256,000 square feet and contains 714 beds. The jail serves Floyd County, The City of Rome, and Cave Spring housing pre-trial detainees as well as county-sentenced and state-sentenced inmates. In 2020, the jail had an average daily inmate population of 507.

The current jail was built in 1982 and was renovated in 1996 as a result of a special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST).  The jail facility continues to utilize SPLOST funds to improve infrastructure issues through the Jail Infrastructure Restoration Project (JIRP).

The jail administrator is Major Allen Pledger. He is assisted by the assistant jail administrator Captain Nathan Blanton.  To contact the Major or Captain please call (706) 314-0711.
