Sheriff Roberson serves as the Chief Executive of the Floyd County Sheriff's Office and is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in Floyd County. Sheriff Roberson has served with the Floyd County Sheriff's Office since 1995 in many different capacities from Jail Officer to currently as your Sheriff. Chief Deputy Couey began his law enforcement career in 1991 with the Floyd County Police Department where he served in the Patrol Division, the Selective Enforcement Unit, the Floyd County SWAT Team and the Rome-Floyd Metro Drug Task Force. In 2005 Chief Couey was appointed Magistrate Judge of Floyd County where he served on the bench for 16 years before being appointed as Chief Deputy by Sheriff Roberson in January 2021.
Allen Pledger serves as Jail Administrator for the Floyd County Sheriff's Office. Major Pledger manages and supervises all of the daily operations of the jail. Major Pledger is a veteran of the United States Air Force. Major Pledger began his career with the Sheriff’s Office in 1996 and has worked in various capacities. Prior ranks include Captain, Lieutenant, Staff Sergeant, Sergeant, Corporal, Deputy Sheriff and Jail Officer.
Richard Argo is the Major of Field Operations for the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office. As such, he oversees our Warrant Division, Court Division, and Civil Division. Major Argo is a 1984 graduate of Rockmart High School and attended Georgia Northwestern Technical College in Rome. Major Argo has served with the Sheriff’s Office for more than 25 years in various capacities and in various divisions.
Kelly McLendon is a Captain with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and is currently assigned to the Professional Development Division. Captain McLendon is responsible for overseeing all training and other duties of the Professional Development Division. Captain McLendon brings a vast amount of experience to our agency, as he began his law enforcement career with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in 1988, holding multiple ranks including Sheriff.
Nathan Blanton is a Captain with the Sheriff’s Office and serves as the Assistant Jail Administrator under Major Allen Pledger. Captain Blanton is originally from Floyd County and a graduate from Coosa High School. He has an Associate’s Degree from Georgia Highlands. Captain Blanton has been employed with the Sheriff’s Office since 2002 and has served as a Corporal, Sergeant and Lieutenant. He is a certified bomb technician, polygraph examiner and certified POST Instructor.
Jody House is a Captain with the Sheriff’s Office assigned to the Field Services Division where he oversees the Court and Civil Division at the courthouse. He received his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Columbia Southern University in 2018. Captain House is a 1991 graduate of the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy. Captain House has been a Field Training Officer since 2010 and he is a lifelong resident of Floyd County.
James Womack is a Lieutenant with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and is currently assigned to the Court Services Division where he oversees Civil Process Operations. Lieutenant Womack has been with the Sheriff’s Office for 19 years and is tasked with overseeing the Rome Georgia Cares Program. He began his career with us in 2001 and has worked in nearly every capacity with our agency.
Jeff Ploof is a Lieutenant with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and currently serves as the night shift Watch Commander for the Jail Division, managing and supervising the daily operations of the jail. Lieutenant Ploof has been employed with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office since 1990; prior ranks include Staff Sergeant, Sergeant, Corporal, Deputy Sheriff and Jail Officer. LT Ploof is a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Justin Oliver is a Lieutenant with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and currently serves as the day shift Watch Commander for the Jail Division, managing and supervising the daily operations of the jail. Lieutenant Oliver has been employed with the Floyd County Sheriff's Office since 2003; prior ranks include Staff Sergeant, Sergeant, Corporal, Deputy Sheriff and Jail Officer. Lieutenant Oliver is also assigned to the Rome-Floyd County SWAT Team.
Anthony Cromer is a Lieutenant with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and is assigned to the Administrative Division. Lieutenant Cromer has been employed with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office since 2004 and has worked in the Jail Division, Warrants Division, Court Services Division, Civil Division, and Administrative Division. Lieutenant Cromer is a 2003 graduate of Pepperell High School and a lifelong resident of Floyd County.
Debra McCain is a Sergeant with the Floyd County Sheriff's Office and is assigned to the Jail Division as the COVID-19 Coordinator. In this role Sergeant McCain is responsible for tracking cases of COVID-19 in staff members employed with the Floyd County Sheriff's Office, as well as inmates housed within the jail facility. Sergeant McCain has been employed with the Floyd County Sheriff's Office since 2015. Prior to her service at our agency Sergeant McCain served at the Floyd County Prison.
Mechelle Cliatt serves as the executive assistant to the Sheriff and the Chief Deputy. She has been employed by Floyd County since 1990 and has been with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office since 1997. Mrs. Cliatt was born and raised in Rome, where she graduated from East Rome High School. She has an associates from Georgia Highlands and a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Shorter College. Mrs. Cliatt is the coordinator of the Sheriff’s Santa Program and was the 2006 Joe Adams Community Service Award recipient. In addition to her administrative duties for the Sheriff, Mrs. Cliatt is the employee liaison to Human Resources and payroll administrator.
Jennifer Cronan is the Manager of the Offender Services Unit (formerly the Offender Processing Unit). Cronan has served with the Floyd County Sheriff's Office Since 2018 and received a Bachelors Degree from Murray State University 2004.
