Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where is the Sheriff’s Office located?

 A: The Sheriff’s Office is located on the first floor of the Court House 3 Government Plaza, suite 110. The Sheriff also has an office located at the Jail. (2526 New Calhoun Hwy). 

Q: What do I do if I have a yellow door hanger from the Sheriff’s Office on my door?

A: If you receive a yellow door hanger from the Sheriff’s Office you may have some civil papers. Give us a call at 706-314-0710 or the number on the door hanger, and we will make some arrangements to get you the papers.

Q: How do I find out if a restraining order or a warrant has been served?

A: You can call 706-291-4111 ext. 8823 or call 706-236-2466.

Q: Why does my family member not have a bond on a misdemeanor arrest?

A: If any person is arrested for a family violence charge, they are required to appear before a magistrate in order to have a bond set.

Q: What do I need to bring with me to sign a bond?

A: All persons who are on the property deed must be present with a current state issued photo ID.

Q: Can I bring my family member who is in jail clothes or a book?

A: No. Due to security reasons we can not take any items from the outside for inmates.

Q: Jury Duty?

A: Please refer to www.floydcountyga.org for any Jury duty related questions.

Q: Where do I get my firearm licenses?

A: You can apply for a firearm licenses at the Probate office located in the courthouse.

Q: How do I file an Open Records Request?

 A: You can file an Open Records Request by contacting our Jail Records Division at (706) 291-4111 or by email at jailrecords@floydcountyga.org
